Kate Lawton

Kate Lawton is the Director of Professional Standards and Financial Administration for the National Association of REALTORS®. She serves as staff executive to NAR’s Professional Standards Committee and Interpretations and Procedures Advisory Board, and the Governance Presidential Advisory Group, and provides strategic guidance for committee leadership and members in order to improve professional standards enforcement and ethics within the organization. In addition, she identifies key emerging issues in real estate in order to propose policy or education-based solutions, and serves NAR leadership, members, association staff, and consumers through direction and procedural guidance on NAR policies related to Professional Standards, Multiple Listing Services, and Membership Policy.

Kate has been with the National Association almost ten years, and prior joining NAR, served as a senior associate in a Chicago litigation firm, where she represented homeowners in foreclosures amongst other practice areas. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice and French from Indiana University, her law degree from Loyola University Chicago, and her Master’s in Public Policy and Administration from Northwestern University. Kate lives in the Chicago suburb of Downers Grove with her husband.
